NARRATIVE TERMS OF USE
Effective as of July 26, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Narrative Social Media Inc. (“Narrative,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your use of the Narrative mobile application, narrativesm.com, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
THESE TERMS INCLUDE A BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS-ACTION WAIVER IN SECTION 18. PLEASE READ THAT SECTION CAREFULLY.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least thirteen (13) years old, located in the United States, and legally able to enter into these Terms. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms where required by law. The Service is not directed to children under 13. During account setup, we ask for your date of birth and use it to determine whether you meet the minimum age requirement. You must provide an accurate date of birth and may not misrepresent your age, location, or other eligibility information.
2. Accounts and Phone Verification
Narrative uses phone-number verification codes for account access. You agree to provide accurate information, keep control of the phone number and device associated with your account, and notify us promptly of unauthorized use. You may not impersonate another person, create accounts for others without permission, sell or transfer an account, or maintain multiple accounts to evade enforcement. You are responsible for activity under your account.
3. The Service
Narrative helps people maintain meaningful relationships through mutual connections. You can deliberately submit spoken or typed reflections; receive AI-generated responses and suggestions; discover phrased intersections between your reflections and those of accepted connections; make private one-to-one calls; and exchange temporary private messages. Narrative does not use follower counts or a public reflection feed, and it does not compare reflections against people who are not accepted connections.
Features may change, be limited, or be discontinued. The Service may be unavailable from time to time, and we do not promise uninterrupted delivery, storage, or availability of any feature or content.
4. Deliberate Reflections and AI Processing
When you submit a spoken reflection, you direct us and our service providers to transcribe it and process the transcript with artificial intelligence. We may use the content to respond to you, extract topics, generate embeddings, and identify possible intersections with accepted connections. Reflection audio is discarded after transcription; the transcript and resulting AI data may be retained as described in the Privacy Policy.
You also authorize Narrative to use reflection transcripts, resulting AI data, intersection outcomes, and feedback to train, fine-tune, evaluate, test, and improve Narrative’s machine-learning models and AI systems as described in the Privacy Policy, subject to any consent or opt-out rights required by applicable law.
An intersection shown to you may draw on a connected person’s reflection, and an intersection shown to a connected person may draw on yours. The Service does not reveal raw reflection text, transcripts, or internal seed text to the other person. AI outputs are probabilistic and may be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate, or misleading. They are provided for personal informational purposes only and are not medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
5. Calls and Messages
Calls and messages are available only between accepted connections. Calls are live and are not recorded or transcribed by Narrative. Message content is temporary and is deleted after it is read under our deletion process or when its delivery window expires, generally within 24 hours. You are responsible for what you communicate and for obtaining any consent required before independently recording or sharing a call. You may not use calls or messages for harassment, threats, unlawful conduct, or unsolicited commercial communications.
6. Contacts and Invitations
If you choose to grant contact access, you authorize the App to process contact phone numbers for matching as described in the Privacy Policy. You may invite people using your device’s messaging features. You are responsible for having permission to contact invitees and for complying with applicable communications laws. Do not send repetitive, deceptive, or unwanted invitations.
7. License to Use the Service
Subject to these Terms, Narrative grants you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, resell, rent, distribute, modify, reverse engineer, scrape, automate access to, interfere with, or create derivative works from the Service except where applicable law does not permit that restriction.
8. Your Content
You retain the rights you have in reflections, messages, feedback, profile information, and other content you provide (“User Content”). You grant Narrative a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, transmit, reproduce, process, adapt, and display User Content as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service, including to train, fine-tune, evaluate, and test Narrative’s machine-learning models and AI systems as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when the content is deleted from our systems, except for limited backups, legal obligations, de-identified information, trained model parameters that do not reasonably identify you or reproduce your User Content, and rights that must survive to operate content already shared at your direction.
You represent that you have the rights and permissions necessary to provide User Content and that it does not violate law, these Terms, or another person’s rights. Do not submit information you do not have the right to share.
9. Prohibited Conduct
You may not use the Service to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, defame, or invade the privacy of another person;
- submit unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative, fraudulent, infringing, or malicious content;
- sexualize, exploit, endanger, or solicit personal information from a minor;
- impersonate others, misrepresent affiliation, manipulate connections, or evade blocks or enforcement;
- introduce malware, probe security, disrupt infrastructure, abuse rate limits, or gain unauthorized access;
- scrape, harvest, sell, or commercially exploit personal information or Service content; or
- use the Service or its outputs to train a competing model or product without our written permission.
10. Safety, Blocking, and Enforcement
You can block and report users. We may investigate reports, remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts, preserve information, or terminate access when we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to enforce these Terms, comply with law, or protect users, Narrative, or others. We are not obligated to monitor every communication and cannot guarantee the conduct of other users. Use your judgment and contact emergency services if anyone is in immediate danger.
11. Feedback
If you submit suggestions, ideas, or other feedback about the Service, you grant Narrative a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use and incorporate that feedback without restriction or compensation. Feedback is voluntary and is not confidential.
12. Narrative Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, AI-generated presentation, and other materials provided by Narrative, is owned by Narrative or its licensors and protected by law. Except for the limited license in these Terms, no right, title, or interest is transferred to you. “Narrative” and our logos are our trademarks.
13. Third-Party Services
The Service depends on third-party services for authentication, hosting, databases, AI processing, push notifications, real-time communications, and other functions. Third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Narrative is not responsible for third-party acts, omissions, outages, or products, and Service availability may depend on systems outside our control.
14. Apple App Store Terms
If you download the App through Apple’s App Store, these Terms are between you and Narrative, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App, its content, maintenance, support, warranties, or claims relating to it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You also agree to comply with applicable App Store terms.
15. Fees and Communications
The Service is currently offered without a required subscription. We may offer paid features later, with pricing and purchase terms disclosed before purchase. Standard carrier, data, and messaging charges may apply. We may send service, security, account, call, connection, and message notifications. You can manage device notifications in system settings, but some administrative communications are necessary to provide the Service.
16. Suspension, Termination, and Changes
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms, risk to users or the Service, legal requirements, or discontinuation of the Service. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the effective date. Material changes may receive additional notice where required by law. Continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance.
17. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NARRATIVE AND ITS SERVICE PROVIDERS DISCLAIM ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, SECURITY, ACCURACY, AND UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT AI OUTPUTS OR INTERSECTIONS ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PURPOSE, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL PRODUCE A PARTICULAR RELATIONSHIP OR PERSONAL OUTCOME.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NARRATIVE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AFFILIATES, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, OR DATA, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE, AI OUTPUTS, OR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID NARRATIVE IN THE PRECEDING 12 MONTHS OR $100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY ONLY TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Narrative and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising from your User Content, your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights, to the extent permitted by law.
18. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration; Class-Action Waiver
Informal resolution. Before filing a claim, you and Narrative agree to try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Send a written description of the dispute and requested relief to contact@narrativesm.com. Narrative may send notices to the contact information associated with your account.
Binding arbitration. Except for eligible small-claims matters and claims seeking injunctive relief for intellectual-property infringement or misappropriation, disputes arising from the Service or these Terms will be resolved by final, binding, individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules and governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. A single arbitrator will conduct the proceeding. Unless the parties agree otherwise, arbitration will be seated in New York, New York, and may occur by telephone, video, written submissions, or another method permitted by the applicable rules. Fees will be allocated under those rules and applicable law.
CLASS-ACTION WAIVER. YOU AND NARRATIVE MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST EACH OTHER ONLY IN AN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN A CLASS, COLLECTIVE, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. THE ARBITRATOR MAY NOT CONSOLIDATE MORE THAN ONE PERSON’S CLAIMS. IF THIS WAIVER IS UNENFORCEABLE FOR A PARTICULAR CLAIM, THAT CLAIM WILL BE SEVERED AND MAY PROCEED IN COURT.
Opt out. You may opt out of arbitration by emailing contact@narrativesm.com within 30 days after first accepting these Terms. Include your name, verified phone number associated with your account, and a clear statement that you opt out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect any other provision.
Governing law and courts. These Terms are governed by New York law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs arbitration. Where a dispute is not subject to arbitration, the state and federal courts in New York County, New York will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where applicable law requires otherwise. Any claim must be filed within one year after it arises, to the extent permitted by law.
19. General Terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement concerning the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions will remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; Narrative may assign them in connection with a corporate transaction. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual-property, feedback, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, dispute-resolution, and general provisions.
